We are Adam & Kate Brown and BrownSki Farm is a family affair. The fruits of our homestead labor of love. We are a small seasonal backyard farm with emphises on self sustaning crops. Our hens and bees are raised on our 5+ wooded acers in unincorrporated Chesterton, IN. Our property contains approximatly one acer of wild pasture which is allowed to bloom naturally with several species of native wild flowers providing abundant flora for our honey bees and ample insect population for our hens. Sap is harvested from our many red maple trees which we then reduce over a woodfire to make small batch maple syrup. In season our wild backberry canes prouduce an abundance of fruit and when conditions our right our mushroom logs flush producing fresh oragic shittake and chesnut mushrooms. Our humble garden provides a variety of fresh produce most of which we comsume, but each year we seed and grow several plant starts that live out their growing season at our satilite farm in Crown Point (Kate's childhood home) under the care of farmer Paul "Papa" Sarbiewski cultivated with the same care and practices. Tomatoes, garlic, peppers and potatoes to name a few. Most of which find their way into loaves of sourdough but the surplus can be found at market during the growning season. We take pride in our slow lifestyle and seriously the stuardship of our land.
